United Health Care Empire Challenge All-Star Game

Congrats to client Mike Sinatro for being invited to the United Health Care Empire Challenge All-Star Game tonight at Hofstra University. Tonight Long Island will take on New York City at 7:30, Sinatro will be playing for Long Island, wearing number 76. Sinatro had a great season as a Senior at Farmingdale High School and led Farmingdale to a school record point total of 375 and a Nassau 1 title while also doing major damage on defense. He had 42 tackles (10 for a loss) and added four sacks, and also knocked down three passes and forced two fumbles in 12 games. Sinatro also made “All County”, “All Long Island” and was nominated for “The Martone Award”, which is presented by the Nassau County Football Coaches Association to the county’s top lineman.

Keep up the great work Mike. We are proud of you!

Sandsharks win the Aston Iceworks Memorial Day Tournament!

Congrats to Merritt and Brendan Riley, Anthony Russo and the rest of their teammates on winning the Aston Iceworks Memorial Day tournament. Merritt, Brendan and Anthony have been training hard with us at AFTLI and are living proof that HARD work pays off. Brendan Riley scored the overtime game winning goal in the semi-finals to send the Sandsharks to the championship, where teammate and goalie Anthony Russo shutout the opponent, leading the team to a 6 – 0 victory.

Congrats fellas! Keep up the great work, we are proud of you guys!

Congrats to client Tinadj Jefferies and the rest of his HBC Fusion teammates on winning the 14th Annual FC Delco Players Cup Championship. The HBC Fusion won all 5 games plus the championship. Not only did they did they win the championship, but they scored an impressive 21 goals and managed to shut out every team they played allowing 0 goals for the entire tournament. Tinadj has been working very hard with us at AFTLI and has greatly increased his speed and strength.

Congrats Tinadj! Hard work pays off!

Farmingdale Golf team wins the LIC!

Congrats to client Justin Henry and the rest of the Farmingdale Varsity Golf team on winning the Long Island Championship against Smithtown East today. Justin shot a 89 and the team won by 8 strokes. Justin was also mentioned in Newsday last week when Farmingdale won their fourth Nassau County championship in the last five years.
Congrats Justin, keep up the great work!

Ruth gets the start in tomorrow’s Semi-Finals

Sophomore Tyler Ruth will be the starting pitcher for Chaminade HS against St. Dominic in the Semi-Finals for boys varsity baseball tomorrow at 4pm. This season, in 25 innings pitched, Tyler’s ERA is 0.83 with only 5 walks.

Tyler has trained with us at AFTLI over the past 8 years and has really grown into a tremendous athlete and person. Wish you the best Tyler, keep up the great work!

Wanted to take the time to wish Everette Benjamin good luck during his tryout tomorrow in Seattle Washington for the BC Lions. The British Colombia Lions are a team in the Canadian Football League. Everette has been working hard with us at AFTLI and we are confident that his tryout will go well.

Everette played HS Football for Amityville High School and played College Football for Hofstra and Central Connecticut State. In his college career, Everette tallied up over 2500 yards and scored 25 touchdowns.

Sansone gets accepted to Northwood Prep School

Congratulations to Thomas Sansone on his acceptance to Northwood Prep School in Lake Placid, NY. Thomas has trained with us at AFT of LI for the past 3 years and has proven himself to be a very tough and dedicated young athlete. Thomas currently plays with the Long Island Rebeles and will continue to play for them until he takes his talents to Northwood.

Hockey at Northwood has a tradition of outstanding achievement; both players and coaches have gone on to renowned careers at collegiate and professional levels. Northwood graduates have gone on to attend such schools as Colorado College, Denver, Ohio State, UNH, Mercyhurst, Brown, Harvard, Michigan, Clarkson, Boston University, Boston College, Williams, Oswego State, Notre Dame, Plattsburgh State, Middlebury, Wisconsin, and Providence. Fourteen alumni have played in the National Hockey League. Northwood proudly acknowledges its graduates who have gone on to become Olympians: Tom Mellor’68, Tony Granato ’83, David Tretowicz ’87, Jim Campbell ’91, Chris Therien ’90, Mike Richter ’85, Andrea Kilbourne-hill ’98, and Craig Conroy ’90.

Thomas is also featured in one of our many commercials. Keep up the great work Thomas! We know you will do great at Northwood.

DeMartino goes 4-4

I wanted to take the time to congratulate one of our top dedicated athletes, Matthew DeMartino. Matt has been training with us at AFT of LI for over 2 years and has really developed himself as a great athlete and person. Freshman Matthew DeMartino (Oceanside, NY/Oceanside) went 4-for-4 in his second game with the Pioneers and tallied one RBI. We are proud of you Matt, keep up the great work!

2nd Annual Montauk Ride is almost here!

Last year, AFT of LI members Aldo Bussi, Joe Lerner, Craig Schepp, and Ed Stephenson with Owner/Head Trainer Jim Schepp after completing their summer goal of riding 100+ miles from AFT of LI in Massapequa to Montauk Point. The group left the gym at 4:30am and arrived in Montauk a little past 11am. They all trained hard throughout the spring and summer for this ride and completed their goal with ease.

This year the ride will be on July 25th. The bike team has been training hard all winter inside using our new Tour de France bikes. The team is excited for spring to get here so they can get back outside and ready for the ride to Montauk Point. Anyone who would like to join the team for the 25th is welcome, just leave a comment and we will get back to you with more details.

Congrats to Farmingdale HS senior Mike Sinatro on making “All County”, “All Long Island” and being nominated for “The Martone Award”, which is presented by the Nassau County Football Coaches Association to the county’s top lineman. Mike worked hard and trained with us all summer long to prepare for his final season with the Dalers and deserves everything that he achieved.
